Rise up humanity! From the jungle floor to the stars, the spirit of man grows up. The ancient ruins recall the crawling child, anxiously climbing the stone stairs, hopeful to please the parent god with daily sacrifice. The adolescent, standing tall, more assured in his physical world, offers the parent the symbolic gift of one offering, represented in the famous Christian statue atop the mount. While the life-giving spirit of God is still paramount, the sanctity of man’s separate life is evolving here as well. The young adult, as depicted in the space shuttle, literally lifts off from the material world. Man offers himself the spirit-fulfilling reward of universal god-like knowledge. It is nothing less than a metamorphosis of man. Like “the black butterfly,” glistening in new light, he has emerged from the weight of the cocoon, free to fly. The parent stars sparkle in approval of the child prodigy, now both grown up and poised to pursue the birth cycle of yet another new child.
