Many Hands Make Light Work
Many hands, fine and strong,
Gather grains of wheat.
To one heartland they belong,
Their daily bread their feat,
While many hands make light work.
Larger hands feed little hearts,
Working seeds now sown,
Tossing chaff in all its parts
To the parts unknown.
Little hands make light work.
Little hearts feed larger hands,
Fertile works of love,
Reaping, binding, threshing strands
Without a waste thereof.
Larger hands make light work.
Hearts and hands, side by side,
Fine and strong and light,
Daily bread so dignified,
Feed all with grains of insight.
How many hands make light work!
