. Fire and Rain
Mighty Macaw, you dare to scream
In feathers of fire and rain,
Your wing now singed, your peace unhinged,
A fire now flooding your brain.
Mindless mankind, uncaring you deem
The forest of rain to fire,
Your crops, your cattle, all nature your chattel,
A deluge of burning desire.
Endangered Macaw, forbears to redeem
From fire on forests of rain
All life distinct all naturally linked
In water and air and terrain.
Extinguished mankind, you’ll dare to dream
Of rain on lands of fire.
Your crops will all dry, your cattle will die
While nature will never expire.
